This Printer Sucks!

I bought this printer about 3 months ago from Amazon, to replace a 5 year old inkjet. Since then its been nothing but trouble!

It worked pretty well for a couple of weeks, but then it got a paper jam after which it stopped working altogether, it just kept saying "transfer belt error" and refusing to do anything. Samsung suggested using compressed air on all the internal parts, and sent us a several replacement transfer belts to try, but I guess that wasn't the problem after all because it continued to not work.

After about 6 weeks without a working printer, they finally set out a repair person. It took him two visits, and several delays waiting for parts to finally get it working again -- sort of.

It prints stuff, but anything that uses black toner is all blurry. They suggested shaking the black toner container, but it did not help. I just ordered a replacement toner cartridge (generic for $40), if that doesn't help I guess we'll be back on the Samsung support merry-go-round.

Two pieces of advice:

1. Don't buy a laser printer from Samsung

2. Don't buy a printer mail order -- buy local from somewhere that has an easy return policy.

you are right. Don't buy the printer from Samsung. The problem I have from this printer is that the red color doesn't print on the left hand side. I just use it less than a month. I never expect the promble would exist within a month.

samsung printer support is geting better..

vincent you need a new imaging unit.. heh..

and yes dont buy big bulky shit when they have to mail it to you

And you didnt buy it From samsung.. they dont sell direct.

The key is knowledge.. if you call support for an issue.. and dont think they understand the issue.. or know whats really causing the problem.. then dont just take their word for it.

and if either of you own a business depending on this One printer.. go shoot yourself.

the clx-3160fn/xaa i use works great.. and its been completely disassembled and reassembled. never has a single jam, no print quality issues at all.

Ive got two of them... one at home and one in my office! I love them.... They have a few issues from time to time but the repair is pretty simple! Paper jamming is eliminated by goig to a heavier paper (I use 24 lb) And the color problems are usually from the powder being packed due to lack of use! Shake em up or replace.... This printer is in need of daily use....not once in awhile. Its all good people. Samsung support has been awesome for me to deal with.... perhaps its just cause Im dealing with Samsung.ca and not the American counterpart.... lol

This is a great printer in which our Hedge Fund company has clocked up Mix Black and white with color copies - 3800 pages per month - Excellent and reliable.

Printed Copies - 28000 pages so far

USING GENERIC TONER IS THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO. Try going to www.facsimile.com for supplies, parts and great telephone support on this and other models

Regarding "transfer belt error": I replaced photosensitive diode with 70kOhm resistor and printer works. The only consequence is that I need to check manually waste toner container. After few months I need also to reset transfer belt counter (pass: 1934).

This printer is Absolute Garbage it has malfunctioned within 3 months of purchase. Samsung? Never again.

I am starting to get paper jam problems that waste alot of time. I think i have made a mistake buying this printer (6 months old).
